The Review 📚 The Therapist

The Title/Cover Draw:

  • I have read a few of B.A. Paris’ books in the past and I keep trying to find one I totally fall in love with. Thanks to Netgalley and St Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read this book.

💜 What I liked:

  • I really wanted to get to the bottom of this mystery and see who did kill Nina and what this neighborhood was covering up. There are a few twists at the end that are pretty jaw dropping.

😱 What I didn’t like:

  • I am not sure this author is for me. The middle lagged a bit as it seemed there wasn’t a lot to explore or go. The main character is not as complex or nuanced as other characters I have read who have PTSD/survivors complex issues. Also one of the bits of info was dropped and glossed over then this could have been alluded to more in the book.

💁‍♀️ The Characters:

  • Emily and Leo move to a new house in The Circle and meet new people including Eve and Will, Tamsin and Connor, and Maria.

🚦 My face at the end: 😳

💭 3 Reasons to Read:

  1. Super speedy read
  2. Jaw dropping twists at the end
  3. Creepy “alone in the house” vibes

🕧 Mini-Summary:

  • Emily moves to a new house, but she doesn’t know that Nina has died there a few years ago.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Received from Netgalley.

📘 Summary 📚 The Therapist

When Alice and Leo move into a newly renovated house in The Circle, a gated community of exclusive houses, it is everything they’ve dreamed of. But appearances can be deceptive…

As Alice is getting to know her neighbours, she discovers a devastating secret about her new home, and begins to feel a strong connection with Nina, the therapist who lived there before.

Alice becomes obsessed with trying to piece together what happened two years before. But no one wants to talk about it. Her neighbors are keeping secrets and things are not as perfect as they seem…

The multimillion-copy New York Times bestselling author B.A. Paris returns to her heartland of gripping psychological suspense in The Therapist–a powerful tale of a house that holds a shocking secret.
