Review

Have you ever had tragedy strike? A lightning bolt that robs you twice? You lose a loved one and your inspiration in one fail swoop  Toy Maker Jeronicus Jangle gets hit with just such an experience at the beginning of this wonderful addition to Netflix’s Christmas Movie Collection

I always had a fondness for stories about toy makers you know, Gepetto, Magorium, Santa.

Forest Whittaker plays the crestfallen inventor settles for being a pawnshop keeper. Then his precocious granddaughter visits and sparks him to life again. The villain of the story is Gustafson (Keegan Michael Key). He is a shrewd purveyor of corporate espionage and grand larceny.

Did I mention it’s a musical? If the first  number seems familiar it’s not the music, it’s the dancing. The Choreographer from The Greatest Showman was the dance captain here.  The production team did a great job of  bringing a storybook to life. And the whole tale is narrated by the magnificent Phylicia Rashad.

Don’t sleep on this. this year.
