✨ The Title/Cover Draw:
- I absolutely loved the first book in this series and had to see what other crazy things Finlay was up to. Thanks to Netgalley and St Martin’s Press / Minotaur for allowing me the opportunity to read this ahead of publication.
💜 What I liked:
- Finlay finds herself sucked into more impossible situations which is an extension of things that happened in the first book. If you liked that crazy premise, you will love this one just as much. This time someone is trying to get rid of Finlay’s husband. She spends the majority of the book trying to protect her family. As usual, the characters are so alive and interesting that you can’t wait to step into their world.
😱 What I didn’t like:
- I felt like there weren’t as many outlandish situations as the first book, which made it so unique. However, the book was still fun and I am very excited for the next book!

📘 Summary 📚 Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em Dead
Finlay Donovan is—once again—struggling to finish her next novel and keep her head above water as a single mother of two. On the bright side, she has her live-in nanny and confidant Vero to rely on, and the only dead body she’s dealt with lately is that of her daughter’s pet goldfish.
On the not-so-bright side, someone out there wants her ex-husband, Steven, out of the picture. Permanently. Whatever else Steven may be, he’s a good father, but saving him will send her down a rabbit hole of soccer moms disguised as hit-women, and a little bit more involvement with the Russian mob than she’d like.
Meanwhile, Vero’s keeping secrets, and Detective Nick Anthony seems determined to get back into her life. He may be a hot cop, but Finlay’s first priority is preventing her family from sleeping with the fishes… and if that means bending a few laws then so be it.
