The Review

The Title/Cover Draw:

  • Many of the book clubs I was involved in were reading this. Since I kind of liked The Wives by this same author, I decided to give it a try.

💜 What I liked:

  • This story is told between past and present, but not in a confusing way. Tarryn Fisher has an interesting way of revealing just a nugget of information, but not too much.  You really think the book is gonna go a certain way, but it turns itself around in really surprising ways.

😱 What I didn’t like:

  • The book seemed lackluster to me and while the twist was good, I just didn’t feel satisfied by how it panned out.

💁‍♀️ The Characters:

  • Juno is living with Winnie, Nigel, and Sam. But what is the nature of their relationship? This is very surprising to me how it turns this plot point on it’s head.

🚦 The Ending:

  • The Ending wasn’t that surprising. But it was kinda creepy.

💬 The Narrator:

  • Lauren Fortgang narrates this book. She was clear even in high speed.

💭 Consider if you:

  • Have not read a lot of thrillers or are a fan of Tarryn Fisher’s other works.

All thoughts and opinions are my own.

📘 Summary:

Have you ever been wrong about someone?

Juno was wrong about Winnie Crouch.

Before moving in with the Crouch family, Juno thought Winnie and her husband, Nigel, had the perfect marriage, the perfect son—the perfect life. Only now that she’s living in their beautiful house, she sees the cracks in the crumbling facade are too deep to ignore.

Still, she isn’t one to judge. After her grim diagnosis, the retired therapist simply wants a place to live out the rest of her days in peace. But that peace is shattered the day Juno overhears a chilling conversation between Winnie and Nigel…

She shouldn’t get involved.

She really shouldn’t.

But this could be her chance to make a few things right.

Because if you thought Juno didn’t have a secret of her own, then you were wrong about her, too.
