Into The Chrysalis is a philosophical essay wrapped in the life story of the writer. Surviving a myriad of subtle and not so subtle abuses of his family, he finds solace in turning inwards. Espousing concepts of asceticism and solipsism, he seeks freedom from the “identity politics” that prevent us all from expressing our true selves.

Andre is an intelligent man. His thoughts are organized and his arguments feel sound. His story may well have vital assistance for those who have also emerged from his situation. Unfortunately, I feel this piece needed a bit more time on an editor’s desk. The intent behind every word was clear and considered. However, I understood this book only because of my own vocabulary. Andre’s word choices forge a barrier between his erudite mind and those who need his message most. The grammar requires careful guidance.

Again, this is an intelligent book from an intelligent man. With a bit more time in the crucible, it could help thousands.
