The Review

The Title/Cover Draw:

  • The author is a friend of mine and I was approached to read and review it.

💜 What I liked:

  • This is a sci fi story set in a world where twins can communicate telepathically (called duo-com). Twins in this book are very much suited for competition and military procedures so they can work as a team – which is fascinating! Also this is not a typical sci fi/ fantasy book as there is both action and romance. The author sets you up nicely with a glossary to help with terms and characters.

😱 What I didn’t like:

  • This type of book is generally not my thing. But what helped is the strong romance aspect in addition to the other relationships in this book. If you like Sci Fi action, you may think this book may not be for you, but give it a try anyway as it may surprise you! This book is not just one genre.

💁‍♀️ The Characters:

  • Ondraus and Rayah are military twins who enter a competition and find themselves in a very complicated situation.

🚦 The Ending:

  • Is there gonna be a number 2????

💭 Consider if you like:

  • Sci Fi OR Fantasy OR Romance. Any of which can be served in this book.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

📘 Summary:

One murderer can shatter the peace of an entire nation.

In Brennen, a chilling discovery has the nation on high alert. The queen – thought to be barren – is pregnant with twins. And someone wants to destroy them…The escape of a crazed murderer named Rancor ignites a firestorm of events that places everyone in his way in grave danger. Rancor will stop at nothing to enact his vengeance against the king and Brennen’s army. How can The Elite, a troop sworn to protect the royal family at any cost, fight against this maniac when everyone in the palace seems to have their own agenda…including the queen?

Rayah, a trauma nurse and member of The Elite, has always dreamed of a posting at the palace, but things get infinitely more complicated when she discovers that her ex-boyfriend Kaled is in the same unit. His presence could undermine all her work unless she can find a way to set their differences aside and focus on this all-important mission.

The fate of the nation hangs in the balance, and Rancor seems invincible. Will The Elite be enough to stop what’s coming?
